Norah Jones Coming to Newport Folk Festival

NEWPORT, RI—The latest artist to be announced as a Newport Folk Festival performer is Norah Jones.

Festival organizers announced Jones will appear on Saturday during the three-day Newport Folk Festival scheduled for the weekend of July 22 to 24.

In a statement, festival producer George Wein said that Jones is “one of America’s great singers of songs. The scope of her artistry is so broad that it’s possible for her to appear at both the Newport Folk Festival and the Newport Jazz Festival, while still feeling comfortable that she will reach her audience and fans.”

The festival once again is dribbling out artist announcements over a weeks-long period. The “rolling lineup” announcements are meant to drum up anticipation for the festival, which has become the biggest and most important annual summer music events in the world.
