Frederick "Rick" Quarry Jr., 69, of Eadie Street, Newport, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015.

Frederick “Rick” Quarry Jr., 69, of Eadie Street, Newport, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the husband of Nancy M. (McGrath) Quarry.
Born October 11, 1946 in Newport, he was a son of the late Frederick H. and Ursula (Janes) Quarry.
Rick attended De La Salle Academy and was a graduate of Rogers High School Class of 1965. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard as Boatswain Mate and later served in the Reserves until 1971.

He worked as a Produce Manager at Almacs for 29 years until it’s closing in 1995. Later, Rick worked as a store room operator and receiver at the Johnson & Wales University Culinary School for 15 years until his retirement in 2011.
Besides his wife Nancy of 46 years, he is survived by his daughter, Jill Reed and her husband Lyle of Littleton, MA, his son Philip Quarry and his wife Jessica of Surry, NH, his daughter Maggie Quarry of San Diego, CA and grandsons, Peter Reed, Leo Reed and Jack Quarry.

He is also survived by his sister Mary Devlin and her husband Brian of North Kingstown, his brothers Peter Quarry, David Quarry and his sister-in-law Ellen Kelly, all of Newport, and many nieces and nephews.
Rick loved spending time with his 3 grandsons and working in his yard. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the NY Giants.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 16 at St. Joseph’s Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport at 10:00 am. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, “Hospice Program”, P.O. Box 690, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
