Police Use Iphone App to Find Suspect

The following arrest was reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

After police said a man ran out of a resturant on Thursday without paying his tab, he was found through an tracking app connected to a stolen Iphone. 

Marc Mastrobuono, 36, of 49 Harvest Road, Warwick, was charged with larceny, obtaining food or accommodations with intent to defraud and with two warrants. 

Police said after he finished dinner at Brick Alley Pub in Newport, he tried to use a stolen credit card to pay his bill. He allegedly grabbed an Iphone and ran out of the restaurant.  Police said the victim used the Find My Phone App to locate Mastrobuono on Third Street, where he was identified and arrested.
