Romantic RI Is Best State To Pop The Question, Study Says

RHODE ISLAND — A new study based on hospitality industry review comments shows Rhode Island to be the most romantic place in the country to propose to their partners.

The study, which examined Tripadvisor comments about hotels, restaurants, landmarks, and nature and parks, found Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, New York and Ohio to be the top five romantic states.

Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Arizona and Kentucky are the least romantic, according to the study.

Comments were analyzed by the team at journoresearch.org for the number of times “romantic” was used in Tripadvisor comments. The study was commissioned by online diamond engagement ring retailer Rare Carat. The states with the most comments mentioning romance per 100,000 comments made the ranking.

Of the comments in Rhode Island, 2,100 per 100,000 included the word romantic. Out of these, 173 per 100,000 were for hotels, and 403 per 100,000 were for nature and parks, 50.4 percent and 93.7 percent. above the national average, respectively.

Ajay Anand, the diamond retailer’s CEO, said a diverse range of destinations made the list. “From this, it is clear that the United States is filled with meaningful locations for couples looking to get down on one knee,” Anand said in a statement.

The 10 most romantic states and the number of comments (per 100,000 comments) for hotels, restaurants, landmarks, and nature and parks combined are:
