Snow Possibilities Abound As RI Makes Turn Toward Winter

Anything from an inconvenient to a surprisingly heavier amount of snow could be in the card Friday and Sunday evenings.

The next 72 hours will feature a couple chances for snow as we officially make the turn toward winter, with plunging temperatures and incoming precipitation possibly making for some measurable snow.

The first chance for snow is Friday night, when wind chills will have it feeling like 20 degrees. The actual temperature will float above freezing, meaning some of today's rain could transition into snow.

Most of Rhode Island can expect nothing more than a dusting, especially in the northern part of the state. The warmth from Thanksgiving Day should insulate concrete surfaces against much snow accumulation.

Still, the rain, snow and wind will make subpar conditions getting back from your Thanksgiving trips.

The weather should clear up Saturday, though remain cold and windy.

Snow could return Sunday night as a storm sweeps through New England, but it's expected to move quickly. If it slows down, AccuWeather reports Rhode Island could see some tangible accumulation.

"Even though Boston and Providence, Rhode Island, may have rain interfere, there is also the potential for some accumulation of snow as well," AccuWeather said.
