Third Time The Charm For Newport's Illuminated Garden?
Rain forced Ballard Park to cancel the event on Thursday and Friday, but they'll try again Saturday.

NEWPORT, RI—Rain forced Ballard Park to cancel the 13th Annual Illuminated Garden on Thursday and Friday, but they'll try again Saturday. The forecast says the bad weather will hold off until the overnight Sunday, so the hope is the lights can sparkle from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The displays, which involve thousands of lights, were originally inspired by the LaSallette Shrine displays at Christmas in Attleboro, Mass. But the Ballard Park event features different themes. And lights dangle from trees and "unique features of the park's three acre quarry meadow," the organization said.
The Illuminated Garden is free. For more information and to keep up to date on weather advisories, visit www.ballardpark.org or call 401.619.3377.
