Traffic Alert: Amica Newport Marathon
The marathon starts and ends in Newport, but the middle of the race goes into Middletown and Portsmouth.

NEWPORT, RI — The runners follow the scenic route through Newport on Sunday, Oct. 8. The Amica Newport Marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. at Easton’s Beach on Memorial Boulevard. Police say motorists can "expect delays" and traffic will periodically be stopped to let the runners go by. They'll run from the beach up Memorial Drive and then down the hill past St. Mary's Church to Thames Street. Then they travel a loop from Wellington Avenue up to Harrison and around the Ocean Drive. The route takes them to Bellevue Avenue by Rough Point and Marble House. Then they turn on Ruggles Avenue to go past The Breakers and Ochre Point on the way back to Memorial Boulevard via Narragansett and Annandale avenues.
The Newport leg ends back at Easton's Beach, but the marathoners keep running through Middletown and Portsmouth.
The race starts at Easton's Beach, travels down Memorial Boulevard to Thames Street, then loops down through Harrison Avenue, into Fort Adams and back along Ocean Drive to Bellevue. It leaves Bellevue Avenue at Ruggles to dash by The Breakers and Salve on the way back to Memorial Boulevard via Narragansett Avenue and Annandale Road.
