Woman Riding Electric Bike Dies After Getting Hit By Truck In Newport
Police say a 53-year-old South Attleboro, Massachusetts, man turned left onto Hillside Avenue and hit a Middletown woman as she passed by.
NEWPORT, RI — UPDATE — Newport Police ID Middletown Woman Who Died After Getting Hit By Truck.
A Middletown woman riding an electric bicycle died after getting hit by a truck in Newport on Wednesday morning, according to police.
Newport police said the crash happened around 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Admiral Kalbfus Road and Hillside Avenue. Police said a 53-year-old South Attleboro, Massachusetts, man turned left onto Hillside Avenue and hit a 34-year-old woman as she passed by on her bike.

Emergency officials rushed the woman to Newport Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police have no yet released the victim's name.
The pickup truck driver was cited and charged with obedience to devices (red light) and due care by drivers.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation
