North Providence Food Stamp Fraud Nabbed: Cops
The North Providence man was taken into custody in Coventry, police said.
NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — A North Providence man was charged with food stamp fraud, police said.
William Ellis, 48, was arrested shortly before 10:30 a.m. Saturday on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, fraudulent use of food stamps, fraudulently obtaining public assistance, identity fraud and giving false documents to public officials, according to the Rhode Island State Police.
"The arrest was the result of a Barracks investigation and subsequent location of the suspect on a motor vehicle stop in the Town of Coventry," police said.

"Ellis was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed, and transported to Sixth Division District Court for Arraignment," according to police.
