North Providence Nursing Facility Collecting Pet Supplies For Shelter Donation
Lincolnwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in North Providence is conducting "Operation Santa Paws."
NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI — Lincolnwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in North Providence is collecting pet supplies to donate to a local animal shelter.
The skilled nursing facility, whose residents often benefit from animal-assisted therapy visits, launched the effort dubbed “Operation Santa Paws” and is continuing the effort through Monday.
Lincolnwood "welcomes donated items such as blankets and towels, dog and cat beds, unopened pet food/treats, pet toys, grooming products, collars and leashes, and food/water bowls," according to an email.

"Therapy animals play a vital role in long-term care residents’ lives, particularly those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Benefits of animal therapy for seniors include emotional uplift, increased self-esteem, improved social skills, and reduced risk of depression and anxiety," the email said.
