Christopher James, 46, of Pawtucket, was indicted Thursday on one count of domestic murder for allegedly stabbing his ex-wife on a RIPTA bus last February.Â
James allegedly stabbed and killed his ex-wife Terry Chiodo on a RIPTA bus on Feb. 27, 2013. The alleged stabbing took place in the area of West Main Road near Lehigh Terrace.Â
Chiodo, a Portsmouth resident, boarded the RIPTA bus in front of the Portsmouth Multi Purpose Senior Center on Bristol Ferry Road on the morning of Feb. 27.
Portsmouth police were called to the overlook near Lehigh Terrace at 6:15 a.m. that same morning. The overlook was less than a mile from where Chiodo boarded the bus.Â
When police arrived on scene, they learned that a 46-year-old female resident of Portsmouth had been stabbed by a male passenger shortly after she boarded the bus.
Immediately after the stabbing, two other male passengers brought the suspect, James, to the ground and detained him until police arrived.
James, who has been held without bail since his arrest, is scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County Superior Court on July 22.Â
