Man Allegedly Threatens to Kill Over Fireworks Display


A Fourth of July fireworks display became especially frightening in one Portsmouth neighborhood after a man allegedly threatened to kill if the fireworks ended up in his yard. 

Henry B. Bernstrom, 84, of 52 Bay View Ave., Portsmouth, was arrested on July 4 and charged with felony assault. 

Police first visited Bernstrom's house for a disturbance report; however, they soon learned the Portsmouth man allegedly threatened his neighbors. 

Bernstrom allegedly exited his home with a pistol in hand, reports EastBayRI.com. He allegedly threatened to kill his neighbors if fireworks entered his yard, according to the article. 

Officers later found a .38 special pistol loaded with five bullets inside his home, according to EastBayRI.com.
