Portsmouth Police: Fatal Accident Wednesday Morning

PORTSMOUTH, RI -- A 79-year-old Plymouth, Mass., woman has died from injuries suffered in a crash on Wednesday morning, Portsmouth police said. The accident happened around 10:08 a.m. near the intersection of East Main Road and McCorrie Lane. Her name is not being released pending family notification.

The accident is still under investigation. The 79-year-old woman had been traveling south on East Main Road when it collided with another vehicle, driven by a Portsmouth woman, 58. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, where the older woman died. Traffic was diverted for more than an hour,
