Sandy Point Beach Reopens To Swimmers

The beach was closed Tuesday due to a high bacteria count.

The Rhode Island Department of Health reopened Sandy Point Beach late Friday to swimmers. 

The beach was closed to swimming due to high bacteria counts, according to a state Department of Health news release.

Officials shut the Portsmouth beach down to swimmers just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Hazard's Beach in Newport, which was previously closed due to high bacteria, also reopened to swimmers.
