Expect Heavy Traffic Next Weekend With Route 10 Repairs: RIDOT

A section of Route 10 will be closed from Friday, June 17 to Monday, June 20 for road work.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Route 10 repairs next weekend will likely cause heavy traffic near Providence, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation said.

A section of Route 10 North where it meets Route 6 will be closed next weekend, from 7 p.m. Friday, June 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 20, as part of the ongoing Route 6/10 Interchange Project.

Southbound lanes won't be affected, but RIDOT is urging drivers to avoid the area. Traffic on Route 10 North will be detoured along the following route:

  • Take Exit 3B for Route 6 West
  • Take the next exit for Hartford Avenue
  • Turn left at the bottom of the ramp
  • Take the next left after the underpass and get on Route 6 East
  • Follow signs to Route 10 North

RIDOT will be demolishing and rebuilding the closed section of Route 10 North, bringing it to the same level as Route 10 South.
