In honor of the upcoming World No Tobacco Day on May 31, the American Lung Association in Rhode Island is proud to announce that CVS Health will serve as the presenting sponsor of its inaugural The Affair for Air Gala, an inspiring evening dedicated to supporting lung health and advancing the fight against lung disease. The gala will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at Graduate by Hilton Providence (formerly the iconic Biltmore Hotel, a staple of the Providence skyline).

This announcement is yet another way CVS Health is marking a significant milestone, the 10-year anniversary of CVS Pharmacy removing tobacco products from its shelves. The company was the first national retailer to do so, a bold move that set a new standard for corporate responsibility and public health leadership.

“CVS Health’s decision a decade ago to eliminate tobacco from our stores was about more than business—it was about making a measurable impact on community health,” said David Fairchild, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Retail Health, CVS Health. “As we continue to celebrate this milestone on World No Tobacco Day, we are proud to support the American Lung Association’s work to end lung disease and promote cleaner air and healthier lives for all.”

The Affair for Air Gala aims to raise $120,000 to fund life-saving research, programs, and advocacy initiatives. Guests will enjoy a plated dinner, open bar, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment including DownCity Band, a pianist, and a comedian from Funny 4 Funds—promising a fun and meaningful evening in support of a vital cause.

“We are thrilled to bring The Affair for Air Gala to Rhode Island,” said Daniel Bowler, Executive Director of the American Lung Association. “With the support of CVS Health and our broader community, this event will directly fuel programs that help people breathe easier—from improving air quality to helping individuals living with lung disease.”
