Person Hit By Train In Providence
A train hits a person near Dike Street in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, police say.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A person died Thursday after being hit by a train by a MBTA Commuter Rail train in Providence, according to police.
Police said the incident happened near Dike Street in the Olneyville neighborhood of the city around 7:30 a.m. MBTA officials said the train, which came from South Station in Boston, was stopped. RIPTA buses were sent for continued service to the Providence MBTA station.
Authorities have not identified the person the train hit. The state medical examiner responded to the scene.
