Providence Man Arrested At Credit Union On ID Theft Charge: Cops

The Providence man was also charged with giving a false document to a public official and possession of false identification, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was arrested at a local credit union on charge of identity theft, police said.

Christopher Benjamin, 33, was arrested by Rhode Island State Troopers about 5. p.m. Wednesday at a Providence Navigant Credit Union, the state police said in a media release.

Benjamin, a resident of Job Street, was also charged with giving a false document to a public official and possession of false identification, according to the release.

"Benjamin was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released with a future Sixth Division District Court arraignment date.," the release said.
