Debris Falls Onto I-95 South From Providence Bridge
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation
PROVIDENCE, RI — Drivers are being asked to avoid Interstate 95 South in Providence if possible after debris fell from an overpass in downtown Providence, causing major delays along major arteries during the evening commute.
According to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, debris fell from a bridge at the Broadway overpass in downtown Providence, backing traffic up to Route 146 and the Route 6/10 connector during the busy evening commute. The department urged drivers to avoid the area if possible by taking Routes 6, 10 or I-295.
We still have crews on scene on I-95 South at the Broadway overpass, investigating debris falling from a bridge. Major delays persist on I-95 South as well roads leading into it such as Rte 146 & the 6/10 Connector. Seek alternate routes such as Routes 6, 10 and I-295.
