Highlights from Smithfield's Memorial Day Ceremony

Did you miss this year's Memorial Day ceremony? Smithfield Patch has a short video featuring a few key moments.

 

Smithfield's annual Memorial Day ceremony Monday at the veterans memorial inside Deerfield Park enjoyed fair weather and a crowd of about 300 people.

The ceremony featured performances by the Gallagher Middle School chorus and Smithfield Chorus, and Becca Cook and Darren St. Saveur's performance of Bob Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind."

Smithfield High School student Anthony Paiva sang Pete Seger's "Where Have All the flowers Gone?", followed by a brief speech by Norman Derosier, who served with the Red Dragons during the Korean War. 

Derosier voiced his support for men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, enduring multiple tours of service.
