Smithfield Police Log: DUI, Arguments, Accidents, Shoplifting

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during the period between Monday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 19:

Monday, June 17:

  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to traffic accidents with no injuries at Citizen's Bank on Putnam Pike, Dunkin Donuts on Putnam Pike and at the Shop'n Go on Pleasant View Avenue.
  • At about 11:45 p.m., Smitfhfield Police responded to a Whipple Road address for a report of a verbal dispute.

  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Jeffrey Halben, 39, charging him with Driving Under the Influence of alcohol.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to Douglas Pike for a verbal domestic dispute.
  • At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police took a report about a stolen license plate.

Wednesday, May 19:

  •  At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police received a lost wallet containing $561, turned in by a local man.
  • At about 3:45 p.m. Smithfield Police responded to Dunkin Donuts at 970 Putnam Pike for a report of a truck striking the drive through overhang.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to Rumford Pet Center, arresting Christine Hoppe, 35, for shoplifting.
