Five things to know for Monday in Tiverton and Little Compton.

Weather: Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 78. There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
1. Wake up this morning at the ABC Studio at Four Corners Fitness. Spinning with Diana begins a 9:15 and classes cost $15 per person.
2. The Sakonnet Club will meet today at 1 p.m. at the Tiverton Senior Center on Conanicus St.Â

The Sakonnet Club is a social group that meets every Monday at 1 pm in the Dining Room. Immediately following their meeting refreshments are served and Bingo is played. New members are always welcome.
3. The Tiverton Town Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, 343 Highland Road.Â

4. The Little Compton Recreation, Conservation and Open Spaces Committee will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, 40 Commons.

5. On this day in 1883, the most powerful volcanic eruption in recorded history occurs on Krakatau (also called Krakatoa), a small, uninhabited volcanic island located west of Sumatra in Indonesia, on this day in 1883. Heard 3,000 miles away, the explosions threw five cubic miles of earth 50 miles into the air, created 120-foot tsunamis and killed 36,000 people.
