5 Things: Land Trust Days, Yoga and Jack the Ripper

1. Little Compton Celebrates Rhode Island Land Trust Days on Friday, today!
The Sakonnet Preservation Association (SPA) and The Nature Conservancy invite you to take a walk on the Dundery Brook Trail with naturalist/ornithologist, Scott Comings and SPA’s president, Abigail Brooks.  They will lead you down the boardwalk trail and through Dundery Brook's hardwood forest and into the Bumble Bee Preserve.  Listen to the songbird’s choir and see the indigenous wildlife up close on this suspended walkway that gracefully weaves you through one of Little Compton’s larger protected wetland preserves. 

The free walk starts at 11 a.m. at the trail head on Meeting House Lane behind the tennis courts.

2. Head to the Bayview Holy Ghost Citizen's Club for weekly karaoke night with Rick and Joan. The fun starts at 8 p.m. at the hall located at 66 Bottom St. in Tiverton.

3. Find your peace at the ABC Studio at Four Corners Fitness today. Yoga with David starts at 9:15 a.m. Classes cost $15.

5. On this day in 1988, the first assumed victim of Jack the Ripper was found murdered in London. 

Prostitute Mary Ann Nichols, the first victim of London serial killer "Jack the Ripper," is found murdered and mutilated in Whitechapel's Buck's Row. The East End of London saw four more victims of the murderer during the next few months, but no suspect was ever found.
