UPDATED: Emergency Crews Save 2 People on Sinking Boat

A boat reportedly took on water off Bristol's shore. Two individuals were onboard.

A boat was safely found and towed to shore after emergency crews received a distressed call Monday afternoon. 

"Everyone safe," said Portsmouth Deputy Fire Chief Michael O'Brien, spokesman for the Portsmouth Fire Department, in a message to Patch.

Emergency crews searched for a distressed boat believed to be taking on water, according to O'Brien. 

The vessel, with two people on board, reportedly began taking on water shortly after 2 p.m. Monday in Narragansett Bay near the Bristol area.

The exact location of the boat is unknown at this time. Emergency responders searched areas in Bristol, Portsmouth, Tiverton and on the Warwick side of the bay. 

Portsmouth Fire Department's Marine 2 boat, as well as Bristol Marine, responded.
