Weather: Today will be mostly sunny with areas of fog this morning. Highs in the mid 80s,  according to the National Weather Service.
1. It's Summer Music Night at Sakonnet Vineyards in Little Compton. Stop by for a performance of the folk duo, Toph & Tom. Summer Music Nights are held every thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Sakonnet Vineyards, weather permitting. $10 carload. Enjoy a wonderful evening on the lawn with live musci and food available from the Coop Cafe. Bring a blanket or chair; no outside alcohol permitted.
2. The Sogkonate Garden Club's monthly roadside litter collection will take place today on Peckham Road in Little Compton.  Volunteers are welcome.  Please meet at Peckham's Greenhouse parking area at 9 a.m.  Gloves, bags and pick-up tools will be provided.

5. On this day in 1974, n accordance with his statement of resignation the previous evening, Richard M. Nixonofficially ends his term as the 37th president of the United States at noon. Before departing with his family in a helicopter from the White House lawn, he smiled farewell and enigmatically raised his arms in a victory or peace salute. The helicopter door was then closed, and the Nixon family began their journey home to San Clemente, California.Richard Nixon was the first U.S. president to resign from office.
