Important Dates For Tiverton Voters

The Tiverton Town Clerk lays out the facts for voters who want to participate in the Democratic primary on Sept. 11.

The Tiverton town clerk's office will hold a voter registration drive at the Tiverton Town Hall on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., this is the last chance for residents to register if they want to participate in the Democratic primary in September.

"This is for anybody to come because it is the last chance that they have to register to vote before the primary on Sept. 11," said Nancy Mello, town clerk. "We also do this before the general election. Registration must be done 30 days before."

Any new voters who wish to vote in the primary must do so by Sunday. Any voters who have changed their names or address must also notify the Tiverton Board of Canvassers by Sunday.

According to Mello, the preliminary lists of eligible voters will be available for review by Aug. 17 and on Aug. 21 the board will meet at Town Hall at 10:30 a.m. to canvass and correct the list of qualified voters.

Anyone who wishes to apply for and receive a regular mail ballot for the September primary, must do so by Aug. 21 at 4 p.m. The emergency mail ballot process runs fron Aug. 22 through Sept. 10, applications will be available at the Town Hall.

Pleases visit the town website or contact the Tiverton Board of Canvassers at 625-6704 for more information. Voters can download a voter registration form and view your voting location and party affiliation on the town's website as well.
