Obituary: Natalie Anderson

Natalie Anderson, 94, of Bristol died on Saturday at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol surrounded by her family - many of whom are from Tiverton.

 

Natalie Louise (Hanson) Anderson, 94, of Bristol, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at the Silver Creek Manor in Bristol surrounded by her family.  Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Leroy Hanson and the late Katherine Louise (Miller) Hanson. She was the wife of the late Robert Earl Anderson and sister of the late Virginia (Hanson) Bell. Natalie was a graduate East Providence High School (1936) and lived in Warren for 58 years before moving to North Farm in Bristol in 2001.  She worked in the office of The Grinnell Company in Providence, and later in the office of American Tourister Luggage in Warren, retiring in 1987.  

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warren for nearly 70 years, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and actively participating on several committees throughout many of these years. Natalie was also a member of the Kickemuit Grange #24 of Warren, the Rhode Island State Grange and the National Grange.  She inspired many with her strength, independence and commitment to her family and her extended family.

She is survived by her two sons, Paul S. Anderson of Tiverton and his wife Joanna,  Robert B. Anderson of Seekonk, MA and his wife Robin, a grandson, Scott T. Anderson of Seekonk, and his wife Alexseya, two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Julianna, step-grandchildren, Anya, Patrick and Dante Krystman,  her niece Maureen Bell Broglia and nephew Michael Bell and several cousins.

A memorial service was held at the Warren Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 and was followed by a reception in the church's Fellowship Hall.  A private burial ceremony at the Anderson family plot in the North Burial Ground in Bristol followed the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 27 Church Street, Warren, RI 02885.
