RI Under Flash Flood Watch Through Friday Afternoon

A Flash Flood Watch continues for Tiverton-Little Compton and much of the Southern New England area until Friday evening at 6 p.m. 

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may produce heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 inches per hour in isolated areas, is expected after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. 

Heavy rain is expected to result in urban and poor drainage flooding as well as some river rise.

Flooding was seen in Portsmouth's Island Park and Common Fence Point neighborhoods as of Friday morning. 

Do not drive through flooded roadways, keep children away from storm drains, and swollen rivers and streams can present hazards to persons using canoes and kayaks.
