Tiverton Accepting Bids On Harbor Pump-Out Boat

Tiverton is seeking bids to replace Marine 1, its harbor pump-out boat at a cost of about $18,750 to taxpayers.

 

The town will accept bids from qualified applicants for the outfitting of a pump-out boat for the Tiverton Harbor Department until 2 p.m. on Nov. 2.

The town received a state Department of Environmental Management grant in the amount of $56,250, which according to Town Administrator James Goncalo will cover about 75 percent of the boat's cost. The Town Council authorized spending $18,750 from the general fund to match the grant at its Sept. 10 meeting.

While the town reserves the right to reject any and all bids, Harbormaster David E. Vannier laid out specifications for the new boat: It must be a 19-to-21-foot center console pump-out boat wit ha holding tank capacity of at least 225 gallons and come with a roll-on trailer. The boat should be outfitted with navigation and communication technology and a Yamaha 4 stroke outboard engine.

Vannier intends the vessel to be water-ready upon its delivery to Tiverton.

All bids must be filed with the Town Clerk in sealed envelopes marked "Pump-Out Boat" by 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.
