Tiverton Man, 24, Dies after Motorcycle Crash
The crash happened at around noon on American Legion Highway in Westport on Wednesday.

TIVERTON, Ri—Friends and family of Christopher Morton of Tiverton are in mourning after the 24-year-old died after motorcycle crash on American Legion Highway on Wednesday.
Morton was riding his motorcycle when he struck a garbage truck on Route 177, according to Westport police.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office identified Morton as the victim.

Det. Jeff Majewski of Westport police said that the crash happened around noon. Morton reportedly struck the side of a Clean Way truck as the truck was turning into a parking lot.
Morton was transported to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
Police were working to determine if the garbage truck's equipment was fully working and if the truck used its turn signals. An accident reconstruction unit was also determining if speed was a factor in the crash.
Morton attended Westport High School.
Funeral arrangements are to be announced.
