Tiverton Residents Launch Community Group
Brian Medeiros, a former member of the Tiverton Town Council, is launching a non-partisan community organization called Tiverton 1st along with others in the community.

As candidates for local office kickoff their campaigns, a local resident is creating a platform for community awareness.
Tiverton 1st, a new community group formed by former Town Council member Brian Medeiros and about 20 other residents, is dedicated to preserving the quality of life in Tiverton, wrote Medeiros in a recent press release.
"Tiverton 1st is a non-partisan, grassroots community organization," said Medeiros. "Meetings are open to all who support preserving our quality of life in Tiverton by preserving both our community and school services in a fiscally responsible way, and promoting cooperation and community pride."

Medeiros said the group would aim to provide accurate information and facilitate discussion of local issues.
Tiverton 1st will also endorse and support community-minded candidates for local office.

"The goal is to offer voters a clear choice between the positive and cooperative path forward we believe most Tiverton residents want, or the divisive and self-serving course some advocate," said Medeiros.
An introductory Tiverton 1st meeting is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sandywoods Center for the Arts on Muse Wat in Tiverton.
The meeting is open to the public.
