Tiverton Firefighters Respond to Bulgarmarsh Road Fire
The two-alarm fire broke out at around 5 p.m. and reportedly was caused by an exploding water heater.
TIVERTON, RI—Members of the Tiverton Fire Department battled a fire on Bulgarmarsh Road Wednesday night.
Crews had the fire knocked down not long after arrival.
The fire caused substantial damage to the house at 1103 Bulgarmarsh Road. First responders arrived to find flames coming from the basement.

Tiverton firefighters received mutual assistance from crews in Westport and Fall River Rescue provided mutual aid to Westport during the fire.
There were no initial reports of any injuries.

Police blocked off a portion of the road at Quintal Drive and Brayton Road as firefighters worked at the scene.
Lt. Fred Almeda said that the homeowner told firefighters that a water heater exploded, causing the fire.
As flames gushed out of a lower window, the homeowner stood and watched crews begin spraying water on the flames. Other firefighters climbed ladders to cut holes in the roof as smoke billowed up over the roof.
