Here are the top stories in Woonsocket today:
- The Cranston license-plate tracking system caught a bank robber. The suspect is a 34-year-old Woonsocket man. He allegedly robbed “a Citizens Bank branch on Oaklawn Avenue on Thursday morning and a Santander Bank on Atwood Avenue at about 9:20 a.m. Friday.” He was also wanted for “trying to strangle someone in a domestic assault.” (Providence Journal)
- The Woonsocket Fire Department has 107 staff members. Ten percent are unvaccinated. Firefighters “are required to get the vaccine as part of the state’s mandate for healthcare workers in order to maintain their EMT licenses.” The deadline was October 1. What happens now? (Valley Breeze)
- The Atumnfest is coming! In the past, average attendance figures ran into the 100,000s. Festivities go from 10-8 until 10-11. On the weekend, festivities go until 11 p.m. On Monday, they close out at 7 p.m. Fireworks are planned for Sunday at 9 p.m. (Autumnfest)
