  1. Helena Foulkes is running for governor of RI. She is a former CVS executive. Her qualifications on her announcement video state that “she had nearly every leadership job at the company, including being president of the retail business. She said she was really proud of the decision to stop selling tobacco.” COVID inspired her to run for public office. (The Wilton Bulletin)
  2. Ronald Landry has retired. You may remember the former chief of the Millville Police Department for being pulled over in Woonsocket for “driving at least 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.” After playing the “do you know who I am card,” things went downhill from there. The incident led to questions about discretion being used when ticketing (or not) officers of the law. (The Valley Breeze)
  3. The Autumnfest is done, but are you a button winner? So far, only two winners claimed their prizes. One Year 2021 (brown button) prize has not been claimed! $500 Prize: 2640. For the Year 2020 (green buttons), none of the prizes were claimed. $100 Prize: 772; $250 Prize: 7623; $500 Prize: 6695. Go claim them quickly, before someone else’s button is drawn! (Autumnfest)
  4. The Woonsocket Council of the Knights of Columbus celebrates 125 years of service. Bishop Thomas Tobin commemorated the event at St. Joseph. Initially, the celebration should have taken place last year, but it was derailed by the pandemic. (RI Catholic)
  5. This Sunday, there will be a pumpkin patch at Rivers Edge. Come by between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. This is event is for Woonsocket kids 12 and under. (Friends of the Woonsocket Harris Public Library)
