Driver Ignores Stop Sign, Passenger Goes To Jail For Heroin, Marijuana Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A routine traffic stop Thursday turned up marijuana, a little heroin and ended with the arrest of passenger Julio Resto, according to Woonsocket Police.

On Thursday, Officer Justin Mowry and Officer Gabriel Koneczny stopped a gray Pontiac on Blackstone Street for failing to stop at a stop sign. Officer Koneczny asked a passenger in the vehicle, Julio Resto, to exit the vehicle. During a pat-down search of Resto, Koneczny located a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in Resto’s pocket.

The vehicle was towed because it was not properly registered. During an inventory search of the vehicle before it was towed, Officer Mowry located a small amount of what he suspected was heroin in the vehicle which Resto claimed as his.

Resto was charged with possession of schedule I-V, and possession of marijuana, (1st offense).
