Eek, Woonsocket Fire House Treated For Bed Bugs: News Sources

First, it was Woonsocket High. Now, the bed bugs have turned up in one of the City's fire stations.

WOONSOCKET, RI — Bed bugs have turned up in a second Woonsocket public building, according to Channel 10 and other news outlets. The North Main Street fire station was infested, and an exterminator was called to spray, fire officials said. The crews have been temporarily relocated to another fire house and will not go back to Fire Station 3 until the bed bugs are definitely gone.

Earlier, a Woonsocket High nurse reported a bed bug had been spotted at the school, and an exterminator was called. But the building was never infested, according to school officials quoted by news sources.

Bed bug problems have been on the uptick in the U.S., according to Orkin, pest control specialists. In January, the company released its list of the Top 50 Bed Bug Cities. Baltimore and Washington, D.C., were numbers one and two. Boston was the only New England city to break into the top 50.
