Good day, people of Woonsocket; today is World Health Day! It's me again, Sylvia, your host of the Woonsocket Daily.

- If you were near the Rivers Edge Recreation Complex on Monday, you undoubtedly saw the firefighters. New members received training on “running a fire engine’s pumping equipment.” This is not the kind of skill you want to learn when you are facing a burning structure. (The Call)
- "The people in Woonsocket should have exactly as much access to the shore as anyone else here — the same amount of access as people who abut the shore," said a South Kingstown resident. The General Assembly is willing to make it happen and establish the public’s right to access “10 feet above the recognizable high tide line.” Critics assert that it is “an unconstitutional taking of private property,” we learned Wednesday. (The Providence Journal)
- There’s a Rally for a Safe Injection Site on April 21 at 5:30 p.m. It will be held at 46 Arnold Street. Join “a local mother who tragically lost her son to an overdose in Woonsocket” and hear speeches from healthcare professionals and community organizations. (@WATCH_Coalition)
- Meals on Wheels thanks the “82 donors who helped us raise over $9,600 in just 24 hours.” Their “generous support will help us continue to provide More Than A Meal to home-bound seniors from Woonsocket to Westerly each weekday.” (Meals On Wheels RI)
- Officials announced on Wednesday that “the new Rhode Island license plate will look a little like the old one — a reimagining of the blue wave.” The artist who designed the plate is “Willem Van Lancker, a Middletown native who now lives in South Kingstown.” His entry was picked from 900 others. Some 300,000 people voted. You will see it on the backs of vehicles starting around Labor Day. (Newsbreak)

From my notebook:
- A Bernon Cares neighbor is looking for an electrician to come install a Ring spotlight. (Nextdoor)
- Our neighbor, Joan A Spearman, doesn't like the new plates; there's no color to it; they should have picked the one with the blue and yellow in it. (Patch)
