- The Krakow Deli Bakery & Smokehouse at 855 Social Street is leading the way for merchants who want to support Ukraine. It hosted 300 people for a special Sunday breakfast. “All the proceeds Krakow raised on Sunday went to help refugees in Ukraine fleeing for Poland. He’s planning to host another meal benefit this coming week. (Boston Globe)
- Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt officially endorsed Governor Dan McKee on Monday. She noted that he “has shown that he is committed to supporting every corner of our state and all 39 of our cities and towns.” Governor McKee referred to Mayor Baldelli-Hunt as “a champion for hardworking families in Woonsocket.” (@DanMcKeeRI)
- If you didn’t see the long line of hungry guests in front of the deli, you might have noticed the rally outside of St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church on Sunday. “Polish Rhode Islanders standing side by side in solidarity with Ukraine” called for change. Senators Melissa A. Murray and Leonidas Raptakis were there to lend their support. (ABC)
- We learned Friday that Building Superintendent Gary Boucher is retiring from the Museum of Work and Culture. He worked there for 11 years. “Gary has always gone above and beyond to ensure that the museum was a safe, functional, and a beautiful space for all of our visitors. We were also so lucky that he brought that same dedication to supporting each of us and making us laugh until our faces hurt.,” museum staff said. (Museum of Work and Culture)
- What were some of the things that happened in the General Assembly last week? A bill was introduced “to legalize, regulate and tax recreational cannabis sales in Rhode Island.” Another bill was introduced “that prohibits the declawing of a cat or other animal unless a licensed veterinarian has determined that the procedure is necessary for a therapeutic purpose.” Rep. Robert D. Phillips, who represents Woonsocket, introduced legislation “that would explore the possibility of building solar panels on the median strips of the state’s roads, including Interstate highways, RI-Route 146, carports at state parking lots, and other locations.” (On Worldwide)
