However, in the interim, we still want to make sure you are up-to-date on all of your local happenings, so I am here to fill in! Although not a local, I will work diligently to keep everyone in the community informed. And, if you are interested in becoming the new local Woonsocket or Pawtucket curator, apply here.

Here are the top stories in Woonsocket today:

  1. Christina Rondeau is now on Woonsocket's Local Legend Wall. Curated by business owner Ray Arrda of American Contract Specialist, it was high time to include the “5th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate.” Getting on this wall was more difficult than being inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, which she achieved in 2011 and 2019. (EIN Presswire)
  2. The Blackstone-Millville Regional High School Chargers Marching Band from Massachusetts has been tapped to lead the Autumnfest Parade. You can see it on Monday, 10-11, at around 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at Diamond Hill Plaza and will end at the entrance to World War II Veterans Memorial Park. (Bellingham Bulletin)
  3. Tunes-N-Tales Family Music & More is coming to the Woonsocket Harris Public Library. This is a new music program for children between two and five years of age. Some families will be able to attend in person; for others, there is a Zoom room available. Please pick up associated craft kits before the scheduled programs. (On Worldwide)
  4. There’s surprisingly little interest in Rhode Island’s Redistricting Commission meetings. Woonsocket was the location for Monday’s meeting, and turnout was sparse. What you might have missed is the concept of “communities of interest” that seek to identify population groups. “Environmental groups, shown to be a focused political group… these can be communities along a waterway… It’s possible that could be considered a community of interest.” (Uprise RI)
