Woonsocket Police Officer Scott Breguet radioed the dispatcher to report he was being waved down by a group of people near the bus stop on Clinton Street at about 6:26 p.m. April 28.  Breguet said the people told him a woman had been assaulted by her boyfriend, Arthur Ernest Alther, 55, who wasn't there when he arrived.  Officer Gregory Klocek also responded to the scene, speaking with Breguet and then with the woman, who said Alther had punched and kicked her in the back, according to his report. Several of the people at the bus stop confirmed Alther had assaulted the woman. There was also a no contact order against Alther for the woman, Klocek discovered. A short time later, two other officers reported they'd located Alther. He was charged with domestic assault and violating the no contact order. The woman was transported to Landmark Medical Center.
