  1. We learned Thursday that the state has $1 million and wants to give it to first-generation homebuyers in up to $25,000 increments. Woonsocket has been identified as an area with the “highest levels of need.” “Eligible buyers must be both first-generation and first-time buyers who are purchasing a one- to four-bedroom home or condo, meet income and credit guidelines and reside in the home as their primary residence.” (The Hill)
  2. The Thundermist Health Center and the House of Hope joined forces “to bring a mobile shower unit to the health care center every week,” we learned Friday. Called the Shower to Empower mobile unit, it can serve 30 individuals a day. “People experiencing homelessness will be able to have free warm showers, haircuts, medical care, and social services.” (ABC)
  3. A shoutout to The Valley Breeze for defying the digital age. A Friday report follows the chief editor as he “spends most of his Wednesday and Thursday mornings delivering roughly 50,000 free newspapers to more than 800 newspaper racks dispersed throughout northern Rhode Island.” “If we lose local news coverage, we’re doomed,” he said, and he’s absolutely right. (WPRI)
  4. If you have $250,000, you could buy the property at 387 Willow Street. It has two units. Each has three bedrooms and one bath. The real estate expert calls it a “perfect opportunity for owner occupant or investment!” (Corey Listing Machine)
  5. If you haven’t already done so, the Rhode Island Historical Society reminds you to sign up for this weekend’s Virtual Valley Talk from the Museum of Work and Culture. It takes place Sunday at 1 p.m. The topic is “before Hollywood, there was vaudeville.” (@RIHistory)
