- The Heritage Canal District Commission is ready to present its findings to the City Council on April 4. The goal is to rebuild the city in a “5-to-15 year city plan” that would involve “physical buildings, water, sewer, environmental, tourism, and economies in the downtown Woonsocket area.” If all goes as planned, the development of the area could attract higher-income residents and encourage tourists to visit Woonsocket. - A short while ago, we talked about the Woonsocket Stericycle workers and the possibility of a strike. We learned Sunday that workers “overwhelmingly ratified” their contract. A strike is, therefore, avoided. (Matt Taibi)
- Governor Dan McKee talked Sunday about the $5.2 million contract to the ILO Group, which occurred “in an unusual bidding process.” “Investigators learned that at least two people connected to the state government were interviewed by the FBI and State Police as part of a state and federal investigation” related to this event. According to McKee, he learned about the investigation on Thursday. “Well, I really don’t have a comment because I don’t know much about it,” he said. (WPRI)
