Currently, Patch does not have a local curator for Woonsocket (or Pawtucket!). However, in the interim, we still want to make sure you are up-to-date on all of your local happenings, so I am here to fill in! Although not a local, I will work diligently to keep everyone in the community informed. And, if you are interested in becoming the new local Woonsocket or Pawtucket curator, apply here.

- Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced that the city’s 1,952 fire hydrants will soon look spic and span. At a cost of $541,000, a vendor will “clean, remove contaminated materials, refurbish and paint” the fixtures. Keltic Painting, LLC will complete this project within 24 months. Public Works Director, Steven D’Agostino, explained that it would “make our hydrants work more efficiently.” (City of Woonsocket)
- Erik Josephson will be the new police chief in Winchester. Woonsocket's residents may remember him from his stint with the local PD, which involved “roles in patrol, field training, special operations and gang task-force work.” He will take on the position on October 4.
