Currently, Patch does not have a local curator for Woonsocket (or Pawtucket!). However, in the interim, we still want to make sure you are up-to-date on all of your local happenings, so I am here to fill in! Although not a local, I will work diligently to keep everyone in the community informed. And, if you are interested in becoming the new local Woonsocket or Pawtucket curator, apply here.

Here are the top stories in Woonsocket today:

  1. If you qualify to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot, CVS Health has the doses. You need to fall into one of the eligibility categories and have had your second Pfizer shot at least six months ago. (The categories are: being 65 and older, living in a nursing home, or being between 50 & 64 and having risky underlying health problems.) Make an appointment at cvs.com or minuteclinic.com. (ABC 6, 2)
  2. Are you facing an eviction? At this time, about one in ten Providence County renters were in arrears in August. “Delinquent Providence County households collectively owed $47,221,413 in back rent as of early August.” Combined with the end of federal unemployment earlier this month, Woonsocket renters may soon feel the squeeze. (Patch, Precision for COVID)
  3. Do you want to attend story time with your little one? Does your little one not do well in groups? Ms. Chris at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library offers Story Time by appointment. “You tell her the time that is good for you and your little one, and she will develop a story time around the interests of your child or children.” Call Ms. Chris at 401-769-9044 x2 to book your story time appointment.
