Popeyes is Coming to Woonsocket
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is bringing its fare to the city this spring.

WOONSOCKET, RI—Diamond Hill Road is getting a new restaurant this spring.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will open up at 157 Diamond Hill Road, which is currently vacant, according to a city news release.
The chain, which now has about 2,500 locations, is best known for its fried chicken and southern flair. It’s also the second-largest fried chicken franchise in the world behind KFC.

“An explosion of economic development activity is currently taking place in East Woonsocket,” Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt said in a news release. “Almost simultaneously, major projects are currently taking shape for the two major box stores that have been vacant in recent years, as well as individual businesses moving into the shopping plazas and other free standing sites.”
The city will host a press conference in April to outline those future plans. In the meantime, looking forward to some Cajun fare “will be a positive addition to the Diamond Hill Road area,” the mayor said. ““I thank the highly successful Mr. [Lalmir] Sultanzada for bringing his franchise to our city.”
