Currently, Patch does not have a local curator for Woonsocket (or Pawtucket!). However, in the interim, we still want to make sure you are up-to-date on all of your local happenings, so I am here to fill in! Although not a local, I will work diligently to keep everyone in the community informed. And, if you are interested in becoming the new local Woonsocket or Pawtucket curator, apply here.

Here are the top stories in Woonsocket today:

  1. Update: Remember when the Millville police chief was caught allegedly speeding and pulled a Hollywood attitude? Councilor John Ward now questions the whole concept of professional courtesy. As you may remember, the officer who pulled the chief over apologized and didn’t issue a citation. “Personally, I would say any violation requires a ticket, and 15 percent added the moment somebody says ‘do you know who I am,’” he said. (Valley Breeze)
  2. The City Council will meet on Monday. Among other things, on the agenda are licenses for All Star Pizza, 800 Providence Street, Crown Chicken and Grill, 828 Diamond Hill Road, and Botanica LaCarida Del Cobre at 69 North Main Street. (City of Woonsocket)
  3. Woonsocket’s Adopt-A-Family program is back. It anonymously matches families of children in need locally with donor families statewide. Gifts are then distributed in December at the Elks Lodge. If you are in need, please pick up an application from the Community Care Alliance and return it during scheduled intake sessions at St. James Episcopal Church before November 19.
