  1. Saint Michael the Archangel at 394 Blackstone Street invites all for prayer today at 11 a.m. and a rally in support of Ukraine at noon. Members note that “the nation of Ukraine is now experiencing a genocide.” All are welcome. (@suchite_roger)
  2. Have you been wanting to make a difference in the city? The Board of Canvassers and Registration is hosting a workshop on March 26 that benefits individuals looking to run for public office. The Candidate School will take place at the Harris Public Library. “The class will review the requirements for state and city office in Woonsocket, and also discuss requirements for local and state party committee offices.” Be sure to Register!   3. We learned Tuesday that the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council received a $918,124 grant to reopen the Polar Express Train Ride downtown in 2021. There is money left over! “Remaining grant funds will be spent on expanded outdoor features for the Polar Express 2022.” (Sheldon Whitehouse)
  4. In May, Ye Olde English Fish & Chips will celebrate 100 years. In a report dated Friday, we learned that “fish and other seafood products are hunted,” not raised. “The restaurant withstood the effects of the Depression, World War II, and so many economic shifts.” Now, it is weathering the pandemic aftermath and inflation.   5. Beginning on March 18, the Rhode Island Stage Ensemble will present “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare. Woonsocket’s own Brittney Simard will be in the cast! (The Valley Breeze)
