  1. Fairmont Heights at 525 Second Street has a rat problem. One resident said, “he’s made property officials aware of a rat and mouse infestation, but they’ve done little to address the problem.” The local paper visited and found “extensive evidence of rodents, including dead ones.” However, a representative of Rhode Island Housing, which oversees the federally-subsidized affordable housing complex, said that “they were unaware of a problem.” The property manager at Fairmont Heights said they were “aware of a few isolated people with mice issues.” (The Valley Breeze)
  2. Sledding at Cold Spring Park is a favorite thing to do for adults and kids. If you walked by on Sunday, you probably saw Katie and her kids having plenty of fun. (Even though mom does look a little cold.) (The Valley Breeze)
  3. Nearby Mendon is getting a nude strip club. We learned Saturday that Showtime Entertainment plans to begin the construction project of the “4,806-square-foot adult entertainment club at 49 Milford St. (Route 16) with a capacity to serve 165 patrons” that may last about a year or longer. It is interesting to note that “a medical marijuana dispensary is being proposed for next door, at 47 Milford St., and a quarter-mile down the road is the Mendon Twin Drive-In (35 Milford St.).” (Milford Daily News)
  4. A man was stabbed outside the Star Wine Liquors on West Avenue in Pawtucket Tuesday. The clerk heard the altercation happening right around 5:30 p.m. Two assailants got away and the victim died. (WPRI)
  5. Visiting the Fort Wildlife Refuge in winter is a thing. Located at 1443 Providence Pike in North Smithfield, you can now join the Audubon Society of RI for some snowshoeing. The event takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. “Look for tracks and other signs of wildlife. If there is no snow, there will be a guided hike of the trails.” (Audubon)
