- A shoutout to Dominique DiSpirito! The University of Maine's political science major from Woonsocket is 2022’s valedictorian. “From her leadership in All Maine Women and her research in Acadia National Park and throughout Maine, to her work this summer in Washington, D.C. as a Truman Scholar, Dominique is making a difference in our university community and in the state.” (University of Maine)
- Do you remember the picketing in front of the Landmark Medical Center last month? The Local 5067 of United Nurses and Allied Professionals said Tuesday that they reached a tentative three-year agreement. The actual union ratification vote is on Monday at the facility. (Woonsocket Call)
- We learned on Tuesday that the "Superman Building" will be turned into a residential building. “The project is expected to cost $220 million and result in 285 new residential units.” “Twenty percent of the building's 285 apartments will be designated for affordable housing. The building will also have about 8,000 square feet of commercial office space and community space for events, stores, and other uses.” (Patch)
- Mark your calendars! The American Legion Post 85 is hosting a Steak & Cigar Benefit next Wednesday. Proceeds of the event go to the Purple Up campaign. Enjoy “3 quality cigars, steak dinner with seafood casserole, raffles, and surprises! Tickets are only $50.” (FB)
- On Wednesday, Governor Dan McKee “extended Rhode Island’s state of emergency declaration to May 11.” According to his administration, the governor took this step to continue securing “certain federal funding.” (WJAR)
