- Friday evening, Woonsocket took the win in the Division I high school basketball game against Central. Villa Novans won 80-70. Insiders point to Shane Perrico’s 26 points as sealing the deal. (WPRI)
- Who should be the 2022 Autumnfest Grand Marshal? The Autumnfest Steering Committee announced Wednesday that it is asking for residents’ input. To qualify, individuals must have “without compensation, given of themselves above and beyond for the betterment of the community and in some way Autumnfest. In short, their efforts and contribution must have come from the heart.” (RIAutumnfest)
- Monday’s City Council meeting will include a request regarding a “historical cemetery” and discussion on the “development of Cass Park.” Another line item is “authorizing the City of Woonsocket to enter into a lease agreement with Seacoast Motorcycles, LLC for police Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.” The meeting is on Monday at 7 PM. - The RI leader of the Hells Angeles, a 30-year-old Smithfield resident, pleaded nolo contendere “to assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a pistol without a license, and assault for the purpose of causing unconsciousness.” The Providence County Superior Court sentenced him to five years. He is also ordered to “pay restitution in the amount of $3,650.” (The Newport Buzz)
- Wicked Smaht Zone is an online group of Peloton riding enthusiasts. Twenty members went to Lowell’s Restaurant in Mendon to have breakfast and “do some extra special things as well.” We learned Friday that this refers to spreading kindness. “The large party of fully vaccinated and boosted riders paid their check and left. The Lowell’s staff was left stunned by a tip close to $4,000. (CBS)
